Bambarra Beach
A long stretch of white sand beach famous for its shallow turquoise waters and colorful beach huts
Location: Bambarra, Middle Caicos
If you go: From the ferry dock at Sandy Point, Bambarra Beach is a 45-minute drive without stops. Unlike the more tumultuous waters at Mudjin Harbor, the ocean here is calm and shallow, making it an ideal spot for swimming. Several casuarina trees line the shore, providing shade. Come prepared with food and drinks if you plan to spend the day here. Always come equipped with insect repellent, especially during the rainy season (May to November).
The uninhabited rock seen from shore (Pelican Cay) is farther than it looks, tempting though it may be to walk out to it. Pelican Cay is half a mile from the beach, and the water gets deeper further from shore.
Tip: Visit Bambarra Beach the weekend of Valentine’s Day to catch the annual model sailboat races — a cultural celebration known as the Valentine’s Day Cup.
